Runneth

Regardless of your latitude on the earth and what months you call Summer, it is associated with warmth, sun, and expansion. The abundant yang qi plays an important role in the annual cycle.

How are you experiencing expansiveness in your life right now?

Is it possible to keep your cup from running over? Do you want to?

Birth Every Day

“Happy birth day to you
& happy birth day to me.
Every day we are born,
Every day we are free.

So happy birth day to me,
& happy birth day to you.
Every day we are born,
Every day we are new.”

This song inspires me to be present with the possibilities of every day, and the freedom we have when we let go of our stories about what has happened. Read it again!

Stirred

Wonder and enchantment filled the room where reflective light created a rushing herd of horses,

from sticks, a stencil, a mirror and sheet. What happened? I was at The Wassaic Project and absorbed into Lindsay Packer’s piece Stampede, 2012.

Creativity is vital to health. There are so many expressions of creativity: not just visual, performing, conceptual, musical, culinary, literary… what is your expression?

Medicine

What are you eating? Daily? Occasionally? Why?

How do you feel when you eat that special something? That daily thing? That thing you think is good for you?

Maybe things have changed. Maybe not, and maybe you never knew. Start with not knowing and be open to your own experience of eating food. How do you feel before, during, and after?

Before: Craving something? Think something is comforting? Think you should eat something because it has a certain number of nutrients? Why this food?

During: What is the quality of this food? What does ‘high protein’ taste like to you? What does ‘good for memory’ or ‘gluten free’ taste like? Would you say this is a warming or a cooling or a neutral experience? Is it sweet? Acrid? Salty? Sour? Bitter?

After: Do you feel movement after eating the food? Upward? Downward? Outward? Is there a change in alertness? Do you have a stuffy nose or head? Or gas? Do you think this food is a healthful choice for you?

“Let food be your medicine and medicine be your food.”
