The balance of masculine and feminine energies takes many forms and recently I’ve been studying it through dance – Tango! in particular.
Yesterday’s special event with Ilene Marder at the Uptown Gallery in Kingston, NY, was a brilliant exchange between new and experienced attendees. I remember an engaging conversation with tango dancer and teacher Sarah Jacob that captured the essence of the dance: connection. The connection between dancers, the music, and the other partners around them, demands a practice of presence that is holistic, and rarefied in the daily experience of what Sarah calls “digital tapeworms.”
Leading and following, giving and receiving, it’s a dance of yin and yang.
