Thirty-three

thirty-three.tuihealthcareKnowing others is wisdom;
Knowing the self is enlightenment.
Mastering others requires force;
Mastering the self needs strength.

He who knows he has enough is rich.
Perseverance is a sign of will power.
He who stays where he is endures.
To die but not to perish is to be eternally present.

Recollect

equinoxHow is your Equinox to-day/night?

I’m inspired by Rhea Wolf’s suggestions for this special transition when day and night equalize just before darkness tips the balance:

“Focus on the hearth and home in order to make yourself a beautiful, inspiring environment for the coming months when we’ll be indoors much more. Make an altar with natural objects gathered from a walk through your neighborhood and think about what you’d like to dream into being during the dark times ahead. Darkness is the place where our creativity comes from, and all life needs the dark for gestation to occur.”

Feng

sail.tuihealthcareFeng is wind.

It is common this time of year and it can make you sick. Think of the pores of your skin like a door to the inside of yourself. The wind blows the door open. Then the wind blows around inside, and sometimes bring cold with it!

A simple and very important way to protect yourself from the wind is to wear a scarf. It doesn’t need to be a wooly winter one, light and wide will do.

Wrap the scarf to cover the base of your skull (at the occipital ridge) to the bottom of your neck (below the seventh cervical vertebrae.) Now you are protecting the wind gates- parts of your neck most susceptible to letting the wind in.
